Got smoke damage?
10/8/2024 (Permalink)
There are four common types of smoke damage.
1. Dry Smoke is caused by high-temperature fires. Which leaves a fine, powdery residue that's easier to clean and less likely to penetrate surfaces.
2. Protein Smoke occurs primarily from the burning of protein-based materials such as meat and other food items. Protein smoke is particularly challenging to clean, as it tends to clin to surfaces and can permeate porous materials like fabrics and drywall.
3. Fuel/Oil Residue Smoke occurs from burning oil-based products or appliances, leaving behind thick, sticky residue that can stain surfaces and has a distinct odor.
4. Wet Smoke comes from low-temperature, smoldering fires, this type produces sticky, greasy soot that can be more challenging to clean and make leave strong odors.
Depending by different circumstances like the fire's temperature, fueling materials, and location. How do you know if you have smoke damage? Immediately after a fire, look for any visible residue such as discoloration in fabrics and stained surface areas. Lingering odors can lead to health symptoms such as respiratory issues, eye irritation and other health problems. Why take the chance?
