Prevent Christmas Tree Fire This Holiday Season
Did you know that fire departments respond to approximately 160 Christmas tree fires per year? Do not let a fire ruin your holiday.
A Christmas tree can become engulfed in less than one minute, causing property damage in 30 seconds. This property damage can range from smoke damage to structure damage.
5 ways to help prevent a Christmas tree fire are:
- Purchase a fresh cut Christmas tree, not a dry tree.
- Keep your Christmas tree at least 3 feet away from any heat source like wall heaters and fireplaces.
- Water your Christmas tree every day to keep it hydrated and fresh.
- Do not use damaged Christmas tree lights that have frayed cords.
- Make sure when you leave the house and go to bed that the light to your Christmas tree are off.
