Here are some steps you can take to help prevent a fire from happening at your place of business.
Do you have a kitchen?
The number one cause of commercial fires is kitchen equipment. This can happen from either faulty equipment or the incorrect use of that equipment. It is important to have your kitchen and equipment cleaned and inspected regularly.
Do you have a fire suppression system?
Make sure to have your overhead sprinkler system is regularly inspected and if needed have it replaced. A fire suppression system has built-in components that detect fires at its beginning stages and these components can become faulty.
Are you using electrical cords properly?
Having multiple cords plugged together, and too many utilities drawing power from them, it can cause an electrical hazard that may start a fire. Keep your cords orderly and minimal.
Do you have multiple items plugged into one outlet?
Equipment with heating elements require a significant amount of electricity to operate. Some examples are, toasters, coffee makers, and space heaters. When too many of these are plugged into one outlet source it can override your electricity and create the potential for an electrical fire.
